I have to be missing something simple, but I'm really not sure what. I'm not a JS veteran, so this may be an easy answer - sure hope so :).
I have a button that, when clicked, gets JSON data. When a drop-down is changed, I check to see if there is data, if there is, I want to clear it out as the drop-down indicates what data to retrie...
So, I read this post, and it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. However... it doesn't work. I guess I'm not going to go with the singleton object, but rather making the array in either a Global.h file, or insert it into the _Prefix file.
Both times I do that though, I get the error:
Expected specifier-qualifier-list before...
Hello
This may be a 'Python Web Programming 101' question, but I'm confused about some code in the aeoid project (http://github.com/Arachnid/aeoid). here's the code:
_current_user = None
def get_current_user():
"""Returns the currently logged in user, or None if no user is logged in."""

I'd like to make program-wide data in a C++ program, without running into pesky LNK2005 errors when all the source files #includes this "global variable repository" file.
I have 2 ways to do it in C++, and I'm asking which way is better.
The easiest way to do it in C# is just public static members.
C#:

We use instantiate and put system critical objects in $GLOBALS for easy access from anywhere (e.g. DB, Cache, User, etc.).
We use $GLOBALS so much that it would (yes, really) drop the amount of code quite a bit if I could reference it like $G = &$GLOBALS for a shorthand call.
The problem is that, per my experience and several hours of ...
Hi everyone,
I have pretty standard Django+Rabbitmq+Celery setup with 1 Celery task and 5 workers.
Task uploads the same (I simplify a bit) big file (~100MB) asynchronously to a number of remote PCs.
All is working fine at the expense of using lots of memory, since every task/worker load that big file into memory separatelly.
What I ...
Hello,
I m using zend.
I want to define the below code outside the controller class & access in different Actions.
$user = new Zend_Session_Namespace('user');
$logInArray = array();
$logInArray['userId'] = $user->userid;
$logInArray['orgId'] = $user->authOrgId;

(I am learning Javascript)
Problem: A page I am working on has 2 views, a data entry view with a textbox and a data rendering view. There is a a href src="currentpage#" link that switches between the 2 views. In order to transmit data from view to view, the javascript parses it from the current HTML and pushes it into the correct form f...
I'm sure this is really simple and I'm drawing a giant blank, but how do you set the result of a function as a global variable?
Example, I want to set the first "color" in array "colors" as global variable "color" (I know the example doesn't make much practical sense, but it's just to illustrate my question):
var color = "";

So I noticed some odd behavior with Apache today. It appears that when I change my location from "/" to "/somedir" that PHP does not properly set the $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_PW'] variable. I am not sure why this is happening nor do I know where to go to see why it could not be getting set.
I am using PHP5 and Apache2 with LDAP as my authenti...
Is there any difference between a variable declared as static outside any function between C and C++. I read that static means file scope and the variables will not be accessible outside the file. I also read that in C, global variables are static . So does that mean that global variables in C can not be accessed in another file?

Do you find Zend_Registry useful?
For which tasks it should be used? For which not?
Global state for variables is not a good practice.
Main objects may have global state injected via $front->setParam('paramName', $object),
so what's the purpose of Zend_Registry?.

I'm creating my first game, and I've currently set up a 'GameState' class, to store player health etc. inside. This class is currently instantiated from the AppDelegate as I need to access it from all over my game.
This is fine. For each class I'm working in, I can access the app delegate, and then find the GameState object... however, ...
Hi,
I am creating an ASP.NET page where I need a couple of variables which hold pathnames and a chosen language etc... Not that many, let's say about 5.
Should I use session variables for this? Atm I'm using public static variables but I'm not sure if this is the right way to do this.
Any thoughts?
Thx

I may be missing something obvious here, but how could I rewrite this code so that it doesn't need the theVariable to be a global variable ?
<script language="javascript">
theVariable = "";
function setValue() /* called on page load */
{
/* make ajax call to the server here */
theVariable = "a string of json data waiti...
Hello, I defined a global variable that is called from other view and it is working first time but not following ones, it keeps with value from first call! Suppose that is a cocoa fundamental problem and variable is not properly defined according its need. Thanks for any idea to solve it.

I'm not sure how to do this without getting an error. Here is a simplified example of my problem.
Say I have this data frame DF
a b c d
1 2 3 4
2 3 4 5
3 4 5 6
Then I have a variable
x <- min(c(1,2,3))
Now I want do do the following
y <- DF[a == x]
But when I try to refer to some variable like "x" I get an erro...
I want to access my global javascript variable in JQuery methods. But I am unable to get it when I go to attach a click even to a div. As following.
How can I do that? I mean do I need to rely on hidden fields for some state management?
var divCount = 3;
$(function() {
//divCount is accessible here
$("#sortable").sortable({

Hello,
I'm wondering if there's another solution to my problem, that's considered more the Sharepoint way. FIrstly, my site is an Internet site, not Intranet. The problem is, all I'm trying to do is save values/variables from page to page in Sharepoint. I know the issue with Session Variables, but this seems to be the only way I can s...
I want less methods. I want a common global TestClass from which I could use any of its value inside the class.

String halloSecond = "Saluto!";
