As you can see in the pic, the buttons from the toolbar on the right align perfectly with the segmented control on the left. They are displayed on the navigation bar. For some reason though, the background of the toolbar seems to be offset 1px to the bottom.
What is especially weird, is this exact same view controller, in fullScreen o...
Hi,
I have successfuly added my own url schemes to my App. The App correctly launches using the schemes.
Now I want to handle the incoming data but the delegate is not called. It is an universal app and I have added the following function to both AppDelegates:
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application handleOpenURL:(NSURL *)url...
I want to have a UIView take over the whole screen to display an image from time to time, but most of the time I'm using a UISplitViewController for the main app functionality. Is there a recommended/best practice way to do this? Right now, I have a pointer to the main window and am just adding the UIView as a sub view and bringing it to...
Hey.
Instruments' Leaks tells me that this UIImage is leaking:
UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:[imagesPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"/%@.png", [postsArrayID objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]]];
// If image contains anything, set cellImage to image. If image is empty, try one more ...
I need to represent a linear process (think wizard) in an iPad app.
In principle I could use a UINavigationController and just keep pushing new controllers for each step of the process. But this seems rather inefficient since the process I'm modeling has no notion of navigating backwards so all previous views would pointlessly stay aro...
This is more a community sharing post than a real question.
In my iPhone OS projects I'm always importing a helper class with helpful methods which I can use for about every project.
So I thought it might be a good idea, if everyone shares some of their favorite methods, which should have been in everyones toolcase.
I'll start with an ...
I want to add a UISlider to my app programmatically without using the IB.
I am adding a UISlider to my UIViewController using the code below. However I don't see the slider when the view comes up. What am I missing? I am using iPhone SDK 3.1.2.
Appreciate any help.
@synthesize slider;

I want to check a file on the server only once each day (NSURL). And, no matter if I fetch the file or not, I do not run the function (to check for the file) again that day.
This would SEEM easy... but I forsee issues. Say I had created a directory under the mainBundle: "/Library/runOnceEachDay/". Perhaps I could write to /Library/ru...

I have a view that consists of a table of existing objects and an Add button, which allows
the user to create a new object. When the user presses Add, the object is created in the list view
controller, so that the object will be part of that managed object context
(via the NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName: method)....
I wanted to easily blend a UIImage on top of another background image, so wrote a category method for UIImage, adapted from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1309757/blend-two-uiimages :
- (UIImage *) blendedImageOn:(UIImage *) backgroundImage {
NSAutoreleasePool* pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init];
UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(...
I'm pretty sure this is really simple, and I'm just missing something obvious. I have an app that needs to download data from a web service for display in a UITableView, and I want to display a UIAlertView if the operation takes more than X seconds to complete. So this is what I've got (simplified for brevity):

Hello,
I'm building an iPhone app that is essentially a book, it will be bundled with a lot of text-heavy content.
I considered bundling the data as XML and load it when the application starts but the XML would contain a lot of nested structures and be a bit of a pain to parse.
Would it be better to use a plist? I'm concerned about me...
I would like to use the playback button in iPod coverflow view.
Are all the system provided icons on this page? http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/MobileHIG/SystemProvided/SystemProvided.html
or is there a more detailed list?

I have been playing around with one of the iPhone examples from Apple' web site (ScrollViewSuite) . I am trying to tweak it a bit so that when I rotate the the iPad the image will fit into the screen in landscape mode vertical. I have been successful in getting the image to rotate, but the image is larger than the height of the landscape...
Is it possible to use a UINavigationController in such a way that it doesn't use the full window?
I've tried setting it's view's frame as well as adding it's view to another (non-fullscreen) view instead of the window, and neither seems to work.

How do I accept data on the backside of a utility app, and then how do I let users modify that data? I've tried all sorts of tutorials, but to no avail. If you need further information let me know. Thanks in advanced.

I have a Core Data app that will end up being an iPhone/iPad universal application.
I would like to implement cloud syncing so that an iPhone and an iPad both running the app could share data. I'm planning to use the recently released Dropbox API. Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to go about doing this? The Dropbox API allo...
I'm working on giving our users context-specific PUSH notification settings, similar to what Facebook has in their settings menu.
As far as I can tell though, there's no way to actually notify our server of these changes until the user actually launches the app.
Is this correct? Is there any mechanism provided for immediately alerting...
