What is wrong with this statement? It works with sqlite and MS sql (last time i tested it)
I would like a select unless there is no match with name or email. Then i would like to insert. I have it as one statement because its easy to keep concurrent safe as one statement. (its not that complex of a statement).

Many Windows MySQL tools like Navicat or EMS have this thing - You just put a PHP file on a shared hosting and can connect local running program to the remote MySQL server on the Web via the web service exposed by that php file.
Are there any good popular free solutions to expose full MySQL as a web service using PHP?

I've an SQL database and I would like to do a query who show all the datas containing the sign "%". Normally, to find a character (for example: "z") in a database I use a query like this :

But here, I want to found the % character, but in SQL it's a joker so when I write:...

I have a web application that stores a lot of user generated files. Currently these are all stored on the server filesystem, which has several downsides for me.
When we move "folders" (as defined by our application) we also have to move the files on disk (although this is more due to strange design decisions on the part of the origina...
I'm trying to automate a tedious problem. I get large Excel (.xls or .csv, whatever's more convenient) files with lists of people. I want to compare these against my MySQL database.*

While very easy to do in Perl or PHP, I cannot figure how to use mysql only to extract the first unique occurence of a record.
For example, given the following table:

After learning how to do MySQL Full-Text search, the recommended solution for multiple tables was OR MATCH and then do the other database call. You can see that in my query below.
When I do this, it just gets stuck in a "busy" state, and I can't access the MySQL database.

I was wondering if there's a drawback (other than bad practice) to using something like this
