What agile methodology would you recommend for a web-site shop?
We have a variety of small projects and a few large ones, teams are cross-project and they multitask. We are really interested in Scrum, but it seems that it would not apply to small projects (less than 2 weeks), which currently make up a lot of our time.
What alternative...
I'm looking for an open-source Scrum project management tool for a small dev team (3 to 6 developers). I've been impressed by trac but I don't need its bug tracking feature as we already use Mantis. I'm having a look at iceScrum which seems feature-full and shiny but a bit cluttered. A solution that integrates into eclipse would be a plu...
We are setting up a project with at very distributed nature. Half of the dev team will be in one location and half in another. The business representative will be in a third location. Any advice on how we should handle this? Good software to ease things up (in a ddition to scrum software we need whiteboards etc.)? How to do the scrum mee...
We are just starting on a pretty big project with lots of sub projects. we don't currently use any kind of named process but I am hoping to get some kind of agile/scrumlike process in by the back door.
The area I will be focusing on most is having a good backlog for the whole project and, at least in my head, the idea of an iteration wh...
Most Scrum teams have some sort of whiteboard or other board upon which the stories/tasks for the current sprint are visualized.
I'm curious as to how people organize this board? Do you use post-it notes? Are they color-coded? How do you group tasks? How do you distinguish the state of tasks? Etc...

We have MS Sharepoint -- which isn't all bad for managing a task list. The data's publicly available, people are notified of changes and assignments.
I think that Bugzilla might be a little easier for management and reporting purposes. While there are some nice Open Source Scrum management tools, I've used up a lot of my political c...
We attempt to do agile development at my current job and we succeed for the most part. The main problem seems to be that the developers on the project are always waiting for requirements at the beginning of the sprint and rushing to get get things down by the end. The business analysts who are delivering the requirements are always worki...
We've been using Scrum on a few projects now with varying success and I now have a query relating to documentation.
In Scrum, you obviously have the product backlog ("The application begins by bringing up the last document the user was working with.") and the sprint task backlog ("Implement forgot password screen"). However, in all the...
EDIT TO IMPROVE CLARITY
Scrum suggests that you split your development into a number of sprints. Each sprint being a fixed duration. At the end of each sprint you ask the client if you should release the software. If they say yes, you perform a Release Sprint, during which you do all the tasks that you woud like to do contineously, but ...
To quote wikipedia:
Scrum is facilitated by a ScrumMaster, whose primary job is to remove impediments to the ability of the team to deliver the sprint goal. The ScrumMaster is not the leader of the team (as they are self-organizing) but acts as a buffer between the team and any distracting influences. The ScrumMaster ensures that the...
Can anyone give me some tips about how to read a Cumulative Flow Diagram. I'm not sure what kind of things its telling me.

Hi,
I have two related question regarding Scrum.
Our company is trying to implement it and sure we are jumping over hoops.
Both question are about "done means Done!"
1) It's really easy to define "Done" for tasks which are/have
- clear test acceptance criterias
- completely standalone
- tested at the end by testers
What should be d...
What software do you use to manage Scrum software development? We've tried Tackle and VersionOne (both free) so far and they are good except for the fact that it's difficult to track work in progress. For example, if I have a task that I estimate will take me 8 hours to complete, I've done 4 hours of work with 4 hours remaining, the ta...
Apparently we use the Scrum development methodology. Here's generally how it goes:
Developers thrash around trying to accomplish their tasks. Generally the tasks take most of the sprint to complete. QA pesters Dev to release something they can test, Dev finally throws some buggy code out to QA a day or two before the sprint ends and sp...

Scrum is quite popular dev.process these days and often Project Manager suddenly gets new title (Scrum Master). However it should be not just a new title, but new habits and new paradigm. What are the bad habits of your Scrum master?

In the earliest stages of planning the development of a new system, which development model to follow seems paramount. I've always held onto the belief that a classic waterfall (or hybrid waterfall/iterative prototyping) is the best approach for medium to large projects. It seems that once a project gets to be a certain size, the Agile...
I'm hearing about a lot of companies that act like they're agile but the only agile thing they do is the SCRUM process. Is this enough to be considered agile? Using SCRUM alone seems like the perfect excuse for a bad manager to get more meetings more often. Should I be weary of such companies?
