Hi guys!
A man wants me to redesign a site run in PHP (VideoCMS). But when I asked him to send me the source he has given me *.tpl files instead of *.php. There is some code inside them:
{include file='header.tpl' p="article"}
<br />
<table width="886" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">

It seems a lot of web applications allow users to change the color scheme, either to custom values or from several predefined ones (blue/yellow, grays, red/yellow, etc). I'm wondering if this is an important issue to consider adding. I'm looking at some premade application templates to speed up the design of my application, and a lot o...
Hi there,
I have a question about the accordion plugin for jQuery.
Basically, I've got it to work on my site nicely, there's just one thing that I'd have liked it to do and that is bottom-up opening in stead of top-down.
What I mean by that is that my 3 buttons just stand in the vertical menu (div) in the bottom. And when you click it, ...
i worked on a website in the latest firefox and then presented it on a machine that just had ie6 (and it looked horrible). is there anyway i can test what it will look like in IE6 without having to actually download. I see that ie8 has a compatibility mode (to show what it would look like in ie7), is there a similar thing for ie 6?

Does anyone know of any good sites to download good design templates (master pages, css files) for MVC projects, or ASP.NET projects in general? I've used the asp.net mvc gallery but the options there are pretty limited. I'm willing to pay for some if they are good.

While this isn't strictly programming related, it's something I've run into as a web developer on several occasions, and I imagine others have run into as well. For that reason, I hope this question can remain open.
As web developers, we know how to make our applications work. But clients/customers/visitors aren't necessarily happy with...
What is the best way to indicate required fields?
Is a red asterisk beside each field's label enough?
Do you also need to explain with words what a red asterisk means?
What if all of the fields are required? Should you still have a red asterisk?

All the (web)designers I've known or worked with, used photoshop almost exclusively, and yet, now that I wanna try my hand at web-design for a personal project, I feel compelled to use a vector graphics application (namely Inkscape).
The idea of the actual design process just seems more rational with VG, given that I'll be experimenting...
Hi,
I am currently developing a ecommerce site which ofcourse contains images for each product. The layout used requires 3 different image sizes;

Hi guys.
I'm designing a clean style to use in some web apps. And I've come across a IE bug (always the same).
Well its pretty simple. I have a gradient background, and on top of it a rectangle with no border and its filled with nothing and with a shadow around it, giving the illusion that its on top of the background, as you can see i...

Hello everybody.

Hi,

So the usage use-case would be this:

I'm working on a web development project usng PNG transparency, CSS3 and all the other goodies you would come to expect in a "new" web design. IE8 and Firefox look great, IE7 is passable and IE6 looks like the dog coughed it up.
