Yahoo's Yslow or Google's "Page speed" which tool should be used? Google is more popular search engine and most of the world care about site ranking in google?

So should we use Google's tool

There is no reason why you can't use both. (I do as they check slightly different things).

Just to be clear, optimizing your page load times probably doesn't effect your google ranking and even if you only use Yslow to optimize it, how is google going to know?

both will slow down the performance of Firefox and one would be enough

@jitendra If you are that worried about Firefox speed (Which isn't part of the question) use a Firefox profile for development and put all your development plugins on that.

Neither Yslow and Page Speed have anything at all to do with site (or page) ranking.

They are both tools to see how your page will perform. Using both is an option.

Page speed is a ranking factor. It's weighted pretty low but still an influence. If two sites score very similarly then the user would obviously prefer to visit the faster of the two, which is why Google consider speed.

@Duncan: Thanks for the additional info. As of April 9, 2010 the load speed of the site now has a minor influence in google page rank. However, the question was about whether usage of a particular tool to measure page load times would have an impact on page rank. And that answer is no. They are just tools to guide you on what might need to be fixed.

Here's a nice comparison.

You should use the one you find most useful. The popularity of the provider is irrelevant; the functionality is similar. The biggest differentiator is the UI: which one do you find easier to use and more informative?

Either one will work perfectly well. I do not imagine you will see many situations where one of these tools suggests doing something and the other tool tells you to do the opposite.
