I have a good knowledge of Joomla, but searching for "joomla compared to wordpress" brings up CMS-dilemma articles. Is there a tutorial that compares the two?

I'm not too sure if this will answer all of your Joomla vs. WordPress questions, but this seems to be a fairly comprehensible article for Joomla vs. WordPress vs. Drupal.

Somewhat, but not exactly. I'm looking for a tutorial that explains wordpress concepts by using joomla concepts (that is, taking advantage of the previous knowledge). For example, it would explain what's the equavialent of categories in wordpress.

WordPress utilizes Categories for blog posts. :) I doubt there is a single article that does exactly what you're looking for. You may need to do some more hands on investigation for yourself. Also there is http://wordpress.tv/ which has a good amount of "feature" based video walk throughs. I for one have used Joomla, do not like it, and am very loyal to WordPress, because it can do just about any thing :)
