I'm interested to know which programming-related areas of technology people are most interested in. If you could work on any technology/field which would it be?

Feel free to go all futuristic on me. :)

For example, some areas I'd love to work on if I could would be artificial inteligence, real-world simulations, robotics, nano-technology, cybernetic limbs/implants.

I would definitely love to do something with AI; although I aspire to become a game programmer it would be cool to do something bigger than that. Doing AI for the military or the space program would be really interesting.

I agree. Although the ethical side of me disagrees with miltary applications, the engineering side of me would love the challenges involved in programming unmanned military drones.

As hardware, give me a robot like the ones in I-Robot, then give me the API...

Other than that, possibly something in the medical field.

Hmmm, thinking about it, those robots could potentially replace doctors and nurses...

Game development. And I don't mean in the "Industry". I'd love to just be able to program my ideas all day long and get paid for it.

As boring as it sounds, I'd like to work on a popular tool or framework.

I like the idea of my code running in as many programs as possible.
