I'm thinking that the reason I can't do this is because it might be a huge security hole, but here goes...
I want to have a bookmark on my browser (FF3, preferably) that is only a snippet of javascript code. It would merely construct a URL based on the current date and then do a window.location = on that URL.
I know that I could make ...
In Google Reader, you can use a bookmarklet to "note" a page you're visiting. When you press the bookmarklet, a little Google form is displayed on top of the current page. In the form you can enter a description, etc. When you press Submit, the form submits itself without leaving the page, and then the form disappears. All in all, a very...
I am just starting to learn javascript, so I don't have the skills to figure out what I assume is a trivial problem.
I'm working with a Wordpress blog that serves as a FAQ for our community and I am trying to pull together some tools to make managing the comments easier. Internet Duct Tape's Greasemonkey tools, like Comment Ninja, are ...

Any ideas?

How can I include a bookmarklet in a Markdown parsed document? Is there any "tag" for markdown that basically says "don't parse this"??
For example you could have something like:
<a href="javascript:function my_bookmarklet()

my_bookmarklet();">Hello</a>
But if I try to past the ...
Many web sites support folksonomy tags. You may have heard of rel-tag, where it says that "The last path component of the URL is the text of the tag".
I am looking for a bookmarklet or greasemonkey script (javascript) to get the "last path component" for the URL currently being viewed in the browser, add that tag into another URL, and ...
I'm using a bookmarklet that inserts a script tag into the current web page.
This script has some ui and an "input type=submit...." tag in it.
Web Page A has chosen not to style "input type=submit.." tags whereas
web page B has styled them.
This results in the the bookmarklet displaying differently styled submit
buttons based on the u...
I'm putting together a bookmarklet that inserts jquery into pages it is invoked on. On many pages it works just fine, but on pages like http://www.cnn.com (which includes both prototype and scriptaculous) it behaves a bit strangely.
$(blah..).appendTo("body") does not work whereas $(blah..).appendTo(document.getElementsByTagName("body")...
I'm trying to design some bookmarklets right now, that connect back to a server (say like magnolia), but by their very nature bookmarklets seem to fly in the face of what's established as internet security, and they are basically cross-site scripting by definition, however they are also powerful and cool tools, and fit the need of my req...
I want to create a bookmarklet that sets the page to be editable, that is, to run this code:
javascript:document.body.contentEditable=true;
When I made a bookmark of that, I could see that the page becomes editable very briefly and then the whole thing is replaced with the word "true".

I've made myself a bookmarklet, and it functions just fine, but when added to a toolbar in Opera or Firefox, it just takes on the default bookmark icon for the browser (a globe and a star, respectively). My site has a favicon, and the window, tab and even [site] bookmark uses the favicon I've specified. Just not my bookmarklet.
How ca...
I'm making a bookmarklet which will load jQuery if the object is not found. The loading will check on the version of jQuery. The code is like:

I am trying to create a bookmarklet that, upon clicking, would request some information from the user (a url and a couple other fields in this case) and then send that data to a php page on my server and then display the result.
I would like to do an Ajax call for this so that I don't actually redirect to the new page, just get the data...
So I've got a bookmarklet which should open up a page in a new window.

If I load this in a new tab (FF3) it works. If I load it in the current tab it just prints the url.
I think it's actually a matter of loading it in an existing gmail tab. So say, make the bookmarklet, click it once, then click it again. That seems to be the way to recreate the problem.
Any idea what would cause this? I can think of a...
Hi everyone.
I've been tinkering around this application all day long and have had a few difficulties. So basically the bookmarklet needs to allow the user to use a lot of functions from multiple JavaScript files, although all of the functions that the user will use are called from one file. Basically it includes all of the necessary fil...
