HI everyone,
during the various stages of compilation in C or C++, i know that an object file gets generated.
i.e., any_name.o file.
what does thos .o file contain actually.
i cant open it since its a binary file.
Could anybody please help me?
are the contents of the object file mainly Dependant on the compiler which we use on unix?

HI,
I am normally a C programmer.
I do regularly debug C programs on unix environment using tools like gdb, dbx.
i have never done debugging of big applications of C++.
Is that much different from how we debug in C.
theoretically i am quite good in C++ but have never got a chance to debug C++ programs.
I am also not sure about what kind ...

I have a simple function Bar that uses a set of values from a data set that is passed in in the form of an Array of data structures. The data can come from two sources: a constant initialized array of default values, or a dynamically updated cache.
The calling function determines which data is used and should be passed to Bar.
Bar does...

Hi guys
I'm trying to transfer my files between 2 UNIX clusters, the data is pure numeric (vectors of double) in binary form. Unfortunately one of the systems is IBM ppc997 and the other is AMD Opteron, It seems the format of binary numbers in these systems are different.
I have tried 3 ways till now:
1- Changed my files to ASCII for...
I print the value that I'm returning right before my return statement, and tell my code to print the value that was returned right after the function call. However, I get a segmentation fault after my first print statement and before my second (also interesting to note, this always happens on the third time the function is called; never ...
I have a profiling issue - imagine I have the following code...

Quoting from the C-std section 6.7.2.1,
struct s { int n; double d[]; };
This is a valid structure declaration. I am looking for some practical use of this kind of syntax. To be precise, how is this construct any more or less powerful than keeping a double* as the 2nd element? Or is this another case of 'you-can-do-it-in-multiple-way...

Is there any way to get a pointer to the current function, maybe through gcc extensions or some other trickery?
