Hi, I'm a computer science student from Venezuela.
I am looking for universities that have good Master/PhD programs on software development (computer science also, but I'm looking for something more into the engineering side of software, not the theoretical).
Thanks for any answers

A long time ago, I think back in 2003, Richard P. Gabriel proposed that universities should offer a Master of Fine Arts in Software.
Is there any university that has adopted this proposal and is offering this degree? I would also like to hear your opinion on this degree.
Thanks

I'm currently a software engineer in India and have been working for 3,5 years. Before recession started I decided to study further and planned for a Master of Science degree in computer science in Fall09, since I want to explore more of this field. I have got an admission in Univ of Texas @ Dallas.
I am confused about whether I should ...

Hi everyone,
Online degrees have been discussed before:

But I have a very specific question:
I'm pursuing MS at Depaul University (not top midwest school). The schedule and location is very good here and I'm able to physically attend the classes while working ful...
I hope this doesn't get closed, because it relates to the type of questions many developers seeking degrees may be interested in. I'm coming into the home stretch of my quest for a Master's in Information Technology. I've taken 11 courses so far, almost all strictly technical - Distributed Java, C++, Security, Data Communications, Perl,...
Hi,
I am interested in doing some part-time study to enhance my career options. I already have a degree in Computer Science and have been working as a software developer for the past 4 years. I enjoy working as a developer, and want to continue writing code; I could see myself as team leader in the next 5 years, but I have no interest...
Yes or No? Why?
Let me clarify why I am asking:
Would it be a 'weird' choice in the eyes of interviewers that somebody doesn't go for a Bachelor CS foundation, but later did the MSc? And is the MSc much more difficult than the BSc in CS?

I am in the process of researching computer science masters programs and need some help with picking a program. I graduated with a BBA in Business Information Systems from the University of West Georgia in 2003. I never considered myself the "programmer" type but my work over the last 6 years has pushed me in that direction. I started...
I'm doing a master's degree in computer science, and I'm currently at the point where I have to decide between the thesis and non-thesis options offered by my university. The thesis option was my first choice, it entails taking less courses but tends to take more time doing your thesis. The non-thesis option involves taking more coursewo...
I finished my Audio Engineering degree two years ago, and since then decided that I want to do programming as a career. I'm worried that my lack of a relevant degree will be a hindrance when I start looking for a job, so I've been looking into my options.
I really don't want to do another degree - too much time and money. I've seen that...
I am considering go back to College to get a Master Degree on Computer Science in 2011.
As I have been a programmer who had been building all kinds of software, I don't think any thing related to programming shall be a big problem for me. But I did forgotten almost all knowledge I've learned as a undergraduate student.
So I think may...
All,
I currently have 3.5 years of professional experience and am going to start my masters part time. My bachelor is in CS and I am bit undecided when it comes to my masters. The roles in my current position is that of a leader in both technical and business areas.
My question is, has anyone completed or know of a masters that mixes i...
Which of one is more important to a career: Certifications like Java, Oracle and Linux or a Master Degree on computer science?
I know that if I go to the academic area the Master Degree would be better, but a Master Degree will be valued by my company too. Both are good for the curriculum. So, what is more important?

I am less then a year from graduating with my bachelors in web development, however I would like to continue on with a masters in programming. Hello Everyone!
I have 3 years of programming experience and I am preparing for GRE to do masters. Many of my friends have left the software field a...
Hi,

I graduated with an undergrad in CS and have been working for two years. After switching jobs, my new employer has educational incentives and will pay 100%. I am interested in an online program due to my geographic location (Southern United States, no school nearby with a program) and the Carnegie Mellon MSE-IT looks appealing. I would l...
