Hi everybody,
I'm implementing a Log system for PHP, and I'm a bit stuck.
All the configuration is defined in an XML file, that declares every method to be logged. XML is well parsed and converted into a multidimensionnal array (classname => array of methods). So far, so good.
Let's take a simple example:
#A.php

Hello there,
I'm struggling trying to read a php file inside a php and do some manipulation..after that have the content as a string, but when I try to output that with echo or print all the php tags are literally included on the file.
so here is my code:
function compilePage($page,$path){
$contents = array();
$menu = getMenuFor(...
I originally started by selecting customers from a group of customers and then for each customer querying the records for the past few days and presenting them in a table row.
All working fine but I think I might have got too ambitious as I tried to pull in all the records at once having heard that mutiple queries are a big no no.

I'm using PDO inside a database abstraction library function query that I've made.
I'm using fetchAll(), which if you have a lot of results, is supposed to get memory intensive, so I want to provide an argument to toggle between a fetchAll associative array and a pdo result set that can be iterated over with foreach and requires less me...
Right now i'm trying to get this:
Array
(
[0] => hello
[1] =>
[2] => goodbye
)
Where index 1 is the empty string.
$toBeSplit= 'hello,,goodbye';
$textSplitted = preg_split('/[,]+/', $toBeSplit, -1);
$textSplitted looks like this:
Array
(
[0] => hello
[1] => goodbye
)
I'm using PHP 5.3.2

which database should I use, if my application is going to be in multiple languages (including Chinese, Japanese etc)? In other words, is MySQL better or worse than Postgres to handle unicode etc? (these are the only two databases my hosting company has)
Also, which language is better for handling unicode? PHP or Ruby/Rails?

Suppose you have an associative array
$hash['Fruit'] = 'Apple';
$hash['Name'] = 'Jeff';
$hash['Car'] = 'Ford';
and you cannot change the order in which these variables are created. So Car is always added to the array after Name, etc. What's the prettiest way to add/move Car to the beginning of the associative array instead of the end ...
i wonder if there are tutorials/books explaining how you create a library/plugin/module for other to implement?
libraries/frameworks like solr, doctrine, codeigniter etc.
cause it seems that they follow the same pattern. having one "bootstrap" file to load configurations, other classes and so on.
i aim to understand the basics, so i c...
I'm running a LAMP stack. When I go into phpmyadmin, I can see that there are quite a number of sleeping connections which probably should be closed. Is there a way, using either Apache or MySQL, to determine on which pages those connections are created?

On stream.get, I try to
echo $feeds["posts"][$i]["attachment"]["href"];
It return the URL, but, in the same array scope where "type" is located (which returns string: video, etc), trying $feeds["posts"][$i]["attachment"]["type"] returns nothing at all!
Here's an array through PHP's var_dump: http://pastie.org/930475

Using php I authenticate a user, then behind the scenes,they are then again authenticated a second time with a single .htaccess username & password. This would be the same for all users, but I would not want them to have to enter a username and password again and they would now be allowed to enter the password protected directory. I pref...
I understand that I can set the option on any specific instance, however what I would really like is to set something up php.ini or somewhere similar which will handle this across all projects and all instances.
Does anyone know a way for me to accomplish this?

I am particularly interested in a solution which will allow for the c...
I'm building a little script that will connect to an IMAP account and grab the content of the email and also the attachments. It works well for the most part, but when a really large file comes in, it causes the script to time out. Is there any way that I can check the file size before trying to grab it? I think that would be the simp...
I'm looking into developing a multi-tenant SaaS application, and I found several sites that describe a solid way to separate the data using tenantIDs and updateable views. e.g. This blog post
It all hinges on the ability to have your user accounts authenticated from a master users table and then having their respective database connecti...

I am using the PHP library for the Graph API (http://github.com/facebook/php-sdk) but am a bit confused about how it is all working (or not).
I just want to authenticate the user and get the user ID back. What I really want to know is what to do once the user has logged in to Facebook and returned to my site. There is data called 'sessi...
Hello,
I am passing a lot of data between PHP and JavaScript. I am using JSON and json_encode in php, but the problem here is that I am passing a lot of numbers stored as strings - for example, numbers like 1.2345.
Is there a way to pass the data directly as numbers (floats, integers) and not have to convert it to ASCII and then back?...
