I was under the impression this is valid SQLite syntax:
SELECT
*,
(SELECT amount AS target
FROM target_money
WHERE start_year <= p.bill_year
AND start_month <= p.bill_month
ORDER BY start_year ASC, start_month ASC
LIMIT 1) AS target
FROM payments AS p;
But I guess it's not, because SQLite returns this erro...
Sorry for the lame title, my descriptive skills are poor today.
In a nutshell, I have a query similar to the following:
SELECT P.LAST_NAME, P.FIRST_NAME, D.DEMO_GROUP
FROM PERSON P
JOIN PERSON_DEMOGRAPHIC PD ON PD.PERSON_ID = P.PERSON_ID
JOIN DEMOGRAPHIC D ON D.DEMOGRAPHIC_ID = PD.DEMOGRAPHIC_ID
This returns output like this:

Are there any constants in T-SQL like there are in some other languages that provide the max and min values ranges of data types such as int?
I have a code table where each row has an upper and lower range column, and I need an entry that represents a range where the upper range is the maximum value an int can hold(sort of like a hackis...
I am making an URL shortener, and I am struggling with the optimal way of encoding a number (id) into a character string.
I am using the characters 0-9,A-Z,a-z so it will basically be a base-62 encoding. That is pretty basic, but it doesn't make use of all possible codes. The codes that it would produce would be:
0, 1, ... y, z, 10, 11...
I know MS T-SQL does not support regular expression, but I need similar functionality. Here's what I'm trying to do:
I have a varchar table field which stores a breadcrumb, like this:
/ID1:Category1/ID2:Category2/ID3:Category3/
Each Category name is preceded by its Category ID, separated by a colon. I'd like to select and display t...
UPDATE:
This is what works!
fgrep -ircl --include=*.sql -- -- *
I have various SQL files with '--' comments and we migrated to the latest version of MySQL and it hates these comments. I want to replace -- with #.
I am looking for a recursive, inplace replace one-liner.
This is what I have:
perl -p -i -e 's/--/# /g'` ``fgrep -- -- ...
Hi.
I created a function in C# which allows me to copy a record and its related children to a new record and new related children in the same database. (This is for an application that allows the use of previous work as a template for new work.)
Anyway, it works great... Here's a description of how it accomplishes the copy:
It popul...
I have an ssis (2005) package that uses the web service task to download to a file destination. The file contains a string of xml data. After downloaded the file looks like this. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>

My thought was I could then use the XML source data flow s...

Suppose a tree structure is implemented in SQL like this:
CREATE TABLE nodes (
id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY,
parent INTEGER -- references nodes(id)
);
Although cycles can be created in this representation, let's assume we never let that happen. The table will only store a collection of roots (records where parent is null) and their...
Hi all,
I have two tables linked by an ID column. Let's call them Table A and table B. My goal is to find all the records in table A that have no record in table B. For instance:
Table A:
ID----Value

2-----value2
3-----value3
4-----value4
Table B
ID----Value
1-----x
2-----y
4-----z
4-----l
As you can see, record with ID =...

Hi
I have 2 tables A and B with the following columns
Table A - id,bId,aName,aVal
Table B - id,bName
where A.bId is the same as B.id. I want a result set from a query to get
A.id, A.aName, B.bName where A.bId=B.id OR
A.id, A.aName, "" when A.bId=0.
In both cases, only those records should be considered where A.aVal LIKE "aVal"

So, with HTML5 giving us local SQL databases on the client side, if you want to write a select or insert, you no longer have the ability to sanitize third party input by saying $buddski = mysql_real_escape_string($tuddski) because the PHP parser and MySQL bridge are far away. It's a whole new world of SQLite where you compose your querie...
