oDesk is my favorite and very decent. following are points you should check.
- Make sure you have completed your profile.
- Start with small jobs.
- Initially make your rate as low as possible.
- Only apply for jobs that you can do.
- Try to build some project in technology you like and make it live. It can be anything. Live projects give you more clients and obviously experience.
- Initially concentrate on Getting a decent reputation and feedback from your clients.
- I will suggest you to go with any one of above sites and give it enough time before switching to any other site.
- Have a technical blog. Publish technical articles there. It is the best thing one can do to get freelancing projects.
