I'm about to start a project for a customer who wants CMS-like functionality. They want users to be able to log in, modify a profile, and a basic forum. They also wish to be able to submit things to a front page.
Is there a framework or barebones CMS that I could expand on or tailor to my needs? I don't need anything as feature-rich or ...
Does anyone ever found/used an ASP.NET application similar to Joomla?
I need to set up a quick and dirty CMS on a Windows Server and our client doesn't want us to use something else than ASP.NET.
Thanks!...
I'm currently trying to build a personal website to create a presence on the web for myself. My plan is to include content such as my resume, any projects that I have done on my own and links to open source projects that I have contributed to, and so on. However, I'm not sure which approach would be better from a perspective of "advertis...
Which is a good .NET based CMS out there (for creating a corporate website). I have used Kentico CMS for some time, and am moderately happy with it.
However, is there anything better out there. I would like the ability to develop my own custom asp.net templates for various page types and install them.

Hy, does anyone worked with N2 Content Management System(http://www.codeplex.com/n2).
If yes, how does it perform, performance wise(under heavy load)?
It seems pretty simple and easy to use.

People,
We have 4 or 5 utilities that work in conjunction with our application. These utilities are either .bat files, or VB apps, PowerBuilder, etc. I am trying to manage these utils in source control, and am trying to figure out a better way to assign versions to them. Right now, the developers use the version control's meta-data -- s...
I am looking for a CMS that would be incredibly user-friendly and would have the following features:
really simple message board (no login required)
family tree
story telling area
photo section
news section
Is there anything out there like this that is really easily configurable? I've already messed around with Mambo and Family Conne...
I originally thought building my own was the way to go, but I've recently changed my mind for two reasons - first, I don't want to reinvent the wheel and second, I don't have enough web development experience at this time to do a good job with it.
I've read another similar question, but I want more than a barebones CMS. Really, the only...
I want to develop a Q/A site with features substantially similar to stackoverflow, but targeted to a different niche (electrical/hardware engineering as opposed to software engineering).
The code that runs stackoverflow is not opensource, and from a previous mention of it on the podcast I believe I can assume it never will be. (Though u...
I feel I have outgrown Wordpress for where I want to take my website. I would prefer to start with a CMS core so I don't have to program that all from scratch, but am not having any luck. PHP or .NET are both options for me. Other languages are a possibility, but really depend on how much programing I would have to do.
The front-end log...
i am planning a simple, dual-language website and i'd like to use a .net based cms but i can't find anything suitable. i have experience with dotnetnuke and sharepoint but neither fit the bill - dotnetnuke does not do dynamic site elements multi-lingually & sharepoint is a monster PITA no matter what angle you look at it :).

Something to take an XML schema and let you add/edit data but not change the XML structure, preferably installed on a server. basically a UI to edit xml documents as a web app. Someone has got to have done this already right?

We need a good CMS that supports data clustering (managing and storing data on different servers). By "good" , I mean : reliable , minimum bugs , the faster the better. (Oh , and it should make coffee :) )

I'm in the process of designing a PHP-based content management system for personal use and eventually to be distributed. I know there are a lot of CMS's already out there, but I really haven't found one that meets my all of my needs and I also would like to have the learning experience. Security is a large focus, as are extensibility and...
I am evaluating CCS grid frameworks for web sites, blogs, and CMS-based sites, and have looked at Blueprint and Yahoo's YUI. They both look good, but it is not so easy to change the column sizes or spacing. And they both add a lot of weight to the first page's download.
Are these the best, or are there other frameworks that are more fle...
My group is going to attempt to build a new CMS from scratch, designed to serve the needs of our organization. It should be noted that none of us have any formal programming education, but we've picked up this and that from developing different websites, among others the one our community uses now. We've decided to program the new CMS in...
I am looking to setup a parallel site to one already that already uses umbraco for its content management system. The new site would share admins, templates, macros, and media resources, but not any content. If I setup multiple host headers pointing to the same directory with an umbraco install, how can I switch the top node (home vs h...
I have a friend who knows nothing about programming or design who runs a small business. She has an ancient web site built in 1997 that has slowly been modified over the years using MS Word until it has become all but unmanageable. It is only a few static pages with a lot of images and links that change on a semi-regular basis, but I don...
I say "non-free" because I'd like to see what CMS tools are out there beyond the normal Drupal, Joomla or Wordpress debate.
Just your favorite!

I currently maintain 3 websites all revolving around the same concept. 2 of them are WinForms applications where the website gives a few basic details, and download links. The third is a web application to query data. I also have a forum (SMF/TinyPortal) that has been serving as a tech support/news hub for the three sites. The download t...
