I am using the Photoshop's javascript API to find the fonts in a given PSD.
Given a font name returned by the API, I want to find the actual physical font file that that corresponds to on the disc.
This is all happening in a python program running on OSX so I guess I'm looking for one of:

Graphics and audio editing and processing software often contain functions called "High-Pass Filter" and "Low-Pass Filter". Exactly what do these do, and what are the algorithms for implementing them?

This might seem like a stupid question I admit. But I'm in a small shop me plus two designers. Our backups are getting out of hand because they just copy/paste files if they need to make a change (version).
I was all set to try Subversion to handle all of our files my text (code) files and their photoshop/illustrator and asset files. T...
I previously asked about Version Cue 3 vs Subversion. I think this is a better question and someone suggested http://www.gridironsoftware.com/Flow/ I hope this question will allow others to join in and suggest other tools or give specific recommendation to using Version Que versus other tools.

I'm working to convert a Photoshop PSD to a HTML/CSS web layout. I know there are some tricks to doing this quickly, I just don't know what they are. The question is, do you?

I have used Photoshop CS2's "Save for Web" feature to create a table of images for my site layout.
This HTML appears fine in a web browser, however when imported into Visual Studio and viewed in the site designer, the metrics are wrong and there are horizontal gaps between images (table cells).
The output from Photoshop does not refer ...
I have run into a common, yet difficult problem. I do not use Photoshop for image manipulation. Since all my work is web-based, GIMP does what I need in 99% of the situations. The problem is that I occasionally receive PSD files with CMYK encoding rather than RGB encoding. These files will not open in GIMP, nor will they convert in Image...
Photoshop has a lot of cool artistic filters, and I'd love to understand the underlying algorithms.
One algorithm that's particularly interesting is the Cutout filter (number 2 at the link above).
It has three tunable parameters, Number of Levels, Edge Simplicity, and Edge Fidelity. Number of levels appears to drive a straightforward ...
Are Adobe's plugin architectures for Photoshop and Lightroom related in any way? If I have source code for a plugin, that works with PS 3.0-CS3 as well as PS Elements 6.0 can I use it with Lightroom directly? If not, what would I have to modify?

I don't want to use Mac or Windows at work but I have a lot of work in Photoshop when I have to create an HTML page from a Photoshop design.

Hi guys,
I'm working on a website that uses lots of png24 files, for transparency.
I need to replace them with png8 files, as all the png fix style javascript workarounds for png24 cause IE6 to lock up randomly.
See this link to get an idea of the symptoms IE6 displays - http://blogs.cozi.com/tech/2008/03/transparent-pngs-can-deadloc...
I have a very large background image (about 940x940 pixels) and I'm wondering if anyone has tips for compressing a file this large further than Photoshop can handle? The best compression without serious loss of quality from Photoshop is PNG 8 (250 KB); does anyone know of a way to compress an image down further than this (maybe compress...
I wonder if this is even possible. I have an application that adds a context menu when you right click a file. It all works fine but here is what I'd like to do:

Basically I want the user to right click and clic...
Here's what I have:
Quarter Sheet Flyer (4 per page) as a PSD or JPG
Text file with one entry of text per line.
What I want to do:

I'm interested in people's opinions on the pros and cons, or downright "hell no's" on designing websites in the browser, and moving away from Photoshop, Fireworks, etc.
I've been designing a relaunch for my website, and trying it out in the browser, and I'm not looking back.
For example (I use a 960px grid with 12 columns):

Is there a library in C# that will allow me to read the layers in a photoshop file (PSD) and extract them as transparent images (PNG)?
Photoshop has a batch command that will extract all layers in individual files but there is no choice of transparent PNGs. My goal is to create a small utility program that will create combinations of la...
Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to erase a particular area of an image, but the constraint is that i shouldn't see white color in the area where I applied my eraser tool. The area where I used my eraser tool shouldn't look different from the rest of the image's background color.
For eg:

Hi All,
I am using Photoshop CS2 to design a leaflet which is intended for distribution by email as a .pdf. My document is 72 dpi, which i believe is a suitable default for non-printing use.
There is one image in the document, a logo, and this is always appearing pixelated in Acrobat reader when i save the doc as .pdf. It looks fine in...
