I have a whole bunch of percentages stored as XX% (e.g. 12%, 50%, etc..) I need to remove the percentage sign and then multiply the percent against another variable thats just a number (e.g. 1000, 12000) and then output the result. Is there a simple way to strip the percentage sign and then calculate the output with PHP? Or should I cons...
I just realized that I'm going to have to start aliasing my database calls due to repeating column names in my join tables. Is there a way to automatically tell SQL to alias all my column names so that they are returned with a prefix of the table name? Otherwise it appears to be quite confusing when only some of them are aliased. Just ...

I'm no stranger to __get(), and have used it to make some very convenient libraries in the past. However, I'm faced with a new challenge (PHP 5.3, abbreviated and simplified my code for this question):

I'm trying to do clean urls by exploding $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] and then switching between the results.
However, once a user goes outside index.php, I'm assuming I need to redirect them back to index.php in order to process the URL they want to reach. How can I accomplish this?
So for instance, user goes to www.domain.com/home/joh...

I can't figure out a way to allow more than 4000 bytes to be received at once via a call to a stored procedure. I am storing images in the table that are around 15 - 20 kilobytes each, but upon getting them and displaying them to the page, they are always exactly 3.91 KB in size (or 4000 bytes).
Do stored procedures have a limit on how ...

I'm looking at the auth class in Kohana 3 as well as a login script. When the login page calls the login function of the auth class, it is returned via a protected abstract function _login. Why would you do that out of curiosity? I can't seem to understand what would really be the difference since you'd be returning the same data eith...
