I'm not sure what to call this, so I'll give an example.
In PHP
1==2 || 2 returns 1 or true
In Ruby
1==2 || 2 returns 2 (The second statement if the first evaluates to false).
Is there any short way to implement similar thing in PHP?

I am trying to make a web service using Ruby Sinatra and MongoDB. It will return JSON objects. I decided to use MongoDB, in part, because it stores documents internally in a "JSON-like" structure. I thought this would make it easy to me to run a query and send a JSON result to the client. However, I have run into problems converting the ...

User clicks OpenID/Oauth provider
OpenID/Oauth stuff happens, we end up with the result (already made that)
Then we want to confirm that the user wants to actually create a new account (vs. associating account with another OpenID accou...

I am creating a rails application that I also wish to work as a native app on the iPhone and Android. In order to facilitate this, I was thinking about becoming an OAuth provider. Is there a rails OAuth plugin that will work like this, or is there a better solution to protect the API?

I'm using the ruby-graphviz gem and I'm trying to draw binary trees. I'd like to use the record shape so that each node can have a left, middle, and right field and, thus, if there are two edges leaving a node, the left and right edges can be distinguished.
I tried specifying the field by concatenating the field name like this: @node1.n...

What are the database abstractions/adapters you are using in Ruby? I am mainly interested in data oriented features, not in those with object mapping (like active record or data mapper).
I am currently using Sequel. Are there any other options?

simple, clean and non-ambiguous API

I'd like to generate a lot of merb views (around 350.000) and save them to separate files programmatically (they will actually be XML files). One option would be to simply wget them, but that is too slow (already tried it, but takes around two days). For rails I've already found an answer but that doesn't work with merb.
