Hello.
I'm looking for a pseudo-marquee with jquery, looking like the one on the twitter home page. The ideal features would be :
Using an HTML list to work
Updating with Ajax when less than X elements remains to display
Stopping on mouse over with callback
Does that exist somewhere, or should I just create it myself ?
Thanks.

I have a bizarre need here, and I am unsure of it's feasibility. I can only think how I would do it using threads (To create another thread that performs a Quine function along side a thread running the script I want to Quine and execute at the same time (without manually adding alerts everywhere!!!), but javascript doesn't have that fun...

I am trying to add a client side event to a dropdownlist and I need to access the currently selected Text. I have tried:

I'm trying to suppress IE's default handling of Ctrl+O.
I've got a onKeyDown handler which get's called, but even though I call event.cancelBubble and return false, the default File|Open command still runs.
btw: this is not critical since I can just pick another key but curious if there might be a way around this.

oEditor.SetData(htmlstr);

Hi,
I am trying to understand more about the Date object in javascript.
I thought that when you call valueOf(), you get the amount of milliseconds since january 1, 1970.
So what I would expect is that the following should return exactly zero;
alert((new Date(1970, 1, 1).valueOf() )/ ( 86400 * 1000));
but it does not, it returns 30.95...

In a previous question I asked about weaknesses in my own security layer concept... It relies on JavaScript cryptography functions and thanks to the answers now the striking point is clear that everything that is done in Javascript can be manipulated and can not be trusted...
