I have looked here but still can't figure it out. How do I change the strip.text.x labels in a ggplot with faceting? Specifically I am using facet_grid with margins. The strip.text label for the margin is "(all)" - but since I am in a non-english speaking country I would rather write "Total" or something similar in my native tongue.

In cases where order does matter, it's rather easy to generate the matrix of all possible outcomes. One way for doing this is using expand.grid as shown here.
What if it doesn't?
If I'm right, the number of possible combinations is (S+N-1)!/S!(N-1)!, where S is the number of dice, each with N sides numbered 1 through N. (It is differ...
df <- data.frame(var1=c('a', 'b', 'c'), var2=c('d', 'e', 'f'), freq=1:3)
What is the simplest way to expand the first two columns of the data.frame above, so that
each row appears the number of times specified in the column 'freq'?
In other words, go from this:
>df
var1 var2 freq
1 a d 1
2 b e 2
3 c f 3

I'm currently using scale_brewer for fill and these look beautiful in color (on screen and via color printer) but print relatively uniformly as greys when using a black and white printer. I searched the online ggplot2 documentation but didn't see anything about adding textures to fill colors. Is there an official ggplot2 way to do this o...
I cannot seem to get the following to work
directory <- "./"
files.15x16 <- c("15x16-70d.out", "15x16-71d.out")
data.15x16<-rbind( lapply( as.array(paste(directory, files.15x16, sep="")), FUN=read.csv, sep=" ", header=F) )
What it should be doing is pretty straightforward - I have a directory name, some file names, and actual files of...
Hello,
I would like to iterate through a table and break it into relvant parts based on the number of visits. I have tried several things but cannot seem to get it to work.
I have included the code.
for(i in 1:6){

}
But I get the following error.

Hi, I have a row in a data frame in R that is made up of sequences of undetermined length of 0s 1s and 2s as characters. So "01", "010", "201", "102", "00012"... things like this.
I'd like to find a way to determine if the last character in the string is NUMERICALLY the largest. It's important that I keep the row in the data frame as...
Say I have a dataframe df with two or more columns, is there an easy way to use unique() or other R function to create a subset of unique combinations of two or more columns?
I know I can use sqldf() and write an easy "SELECT DISTINCT var1, var2, ... varN" query, but I am looking for an R way of doing this.
It occurred to me to try fta...

I have a zoo object oi.zoo with weekly data. I would like to sooth this with a 12-month moving average (easy enough), but I can't figure out how to anchor the right edge of the the moving average window at the end of the month (to correspond with the on which factors I am regressing). For example:

I would like to create a local R package repository such that users in my company can install packages from it and the system admins can update the local repo periodically. Access to the CRAN mirrors is currently denied.
Is there a simple way to do this?
Thank you for your time.

When you choose a log scale, ggplot2 formats the breaks like 10^x. I'd like it to not do that. For example, the code below should display a graph with ticks at 1, 2, 5 etc, not 10^0, 10^0.3, 10^0.69 etc.
library(ggplot2)
dfr <- data.frame(x = 1:100, y = rlnorm(100))
breaks <- as.vector(c(1, 2, 5) %o% 10^(-1:1))
p1 <- ggplot(dfr, aes(x...
In R, "assign('x',v)" sets the object whose name is 'x' to v. Replace 'x' by the result of applying a text function to a variable x. Then "assign" shows its worth.
Unfortunately, "assign(paste('names(','x',')',sep=''),v)" fails. So if 'x' is a variable x, I can set its value, but I can't give it names for its elements.
Can one work ...
Hi, i have a big performance problem in R. I wrote a function that iterates over an data.frame object. It simply adds a new col to a data.frame and accumulate sth. (simple operation). The data.frame has round about 850.000 rows. My PC is still working about 10h now and i have no idea about the runtime.

I have a function that sets a vector to a string, copies a Sweave document with a new name and then runs that Sweave. Inside the Sweave document I want to use the vector I set in the function, but it doesn't seem to see it.
(Edit: I changed this function to use tempdir(() as suggested by Dirk)
I created a sweave file test_sweave.rnw...
How can I easily create a fractional y-value when using ggplot?
t <- as.factor(test=sample(seq(0,100,10),1000,rep=T))
d <- as.factor(sample(c(0,1),1000,rep=T)
p <- data.frame(t,d)
My best shot was:
ggplot(p,aes(x=t,y=prop.table(table(t,d),1)[,1])) + geom_point()

I know I can use ls() and rm() to see and remove objects that exist in my environment.
